I’ve been a nanny/babysitter for five years. In that time I have learned a lot about kids. My main nanny job right now is four days a week and is with two lovely girls who are seven and eleven. Every day I bring a bag of goodies I call the Kid Kit (thank you Ann M. Martin). The kid kit is a term from the Babysitters club series. The kid kit has games, stuffed animals, coloring books, crayons, sketch pads-basically whatever toys and goodies your particular set of kids will enjoy.
Both girls I nanny for have an entire play room full of toys and art supplies but my stuff is cooler to them. A general rule of thumb with kids- your stuff is cooler than theirs. Every day I bring over a bag of stuff for them to play with. I bring crafts, toys, and coloring books.
You can customize your kid kid to whatever set of kids you are nannying or babysitting for. The girls that I nanny for really like art so I always have art supplies with me. One of the girls is going through a major hair phase so I always bring over a spare brush and hair bands because she plays with my hair.
You do not have to spend a ton of money on the kid kit. Most, if not, all of the stuff that I have in my kid kit is stuff I already had.
Here is a list of things you could potentially bring
-Crayons (I had a lot of loose crayons so I put them in a plastic sandwich container)
I hope this helps all of you nannies and babysitters out there. 🙂
